"Blue Eyes"

Michael Clark's "Blue Eyes"is a classic Australian Yowah Nut which has been split perfectly in half, thus revealing it's ancient, hypnotic, luminous blue "eyes" within.
Surrounded by richly patterned ironstone, the "pupils" and "irises" blaze and flash with deep celestial blues and highlights of emerald green.
This completely unique opal sculpture dyptich is magnificently hand carved, finished on all surfaces and is displayed, securely counter-sunk, on a bed of deep red cedar.  A rare masterpiece, indeed.

"Phoenix"

Using the natural flow of the Queensland boulder opal, carved on all sides, this exceptional sculpture features striking greens, caramels, aquas and light blues, with touches of red opal, accompanied with the freeform carved dark brown sandstone.
Taking 3 weeks of carving, standing 21cm high and 9cm long this is truly a magnificent sculpture to start the 2011 series off with.
